While speed at the checkout lane is essential, other aspects, such as proper bag-building method, weight distribution in the bag, as well as style, attitude and appearance are what lead to superior bagging techniques. Grocery bagging, especially done well, is an important part of the operation of a successful retail grocery business.
NGA is proud to recognize the importance of great customer service and superior bagging skills through our National Best Bagger Competition, sponsored by PepsiCo, and held annually as a part of The NGA Show in Las Vegas.
Originally hosted by NGA in 1987, the Best Bagger Championship is the culminating event of a yearlong nationwide contest, in which one contestant from each participating state who has won the statewide competition is eligible to compete in the national Best Bagger Championship.
Best Bagger is a showcase for supermarket employees that excel at providing superior core customer service skill in a friendly competition, and has become one of the supermarket sectors most publicized event. This year, 23 of the top grocery baggers competed for bagging rights and the national Best Bagger Champion title.
We’re excited to highlight Best Bagger through a Facebook Live event on our Facebook page! Be sure to tune in tonight at 5pm PST on our Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/NationalGrocersAssn/
